Setup and First Use

Unbox and Position the Machine

Remove the Autopress from its packaging and place it on a sturdy, level table. The Autopress weighs approximately 42 lbs — get help lifting it if needed.Make sure there is at least 12 inches of clearance behind the machine to allow the upper arm to open and close fully without obstruction. Do not place it against a wall.

Plug In the Power Cord

Connect the power cord to the back of the Autopress and plug into a grounded wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or power strip — connect directly to the wall for stable power delivery.

Power On and Set Temperature

Press the power button. The digital panel will illuminate. Use the temperature controls on the panel to set your desired temperature. Allow the machine to fully preheat before pressing.

Consult the Cricut Heat Guide

Visit heat.cricut.com and enter your material type and base fabric to get the exact temperature, pressure, and time settings for your project. Use these values when configuring the Autopress panel.

Pre-Press Your Blank Garment

Lift the upper platen arm to the open position. Lay your blank garment flat on the lower platen and close the arm gently. Press the Start button to run a quick 5-second pre-press with no design — this removes moisture and wrinkles from the fabric.Open the arm again after the pre-press cycle completes.

Lay the Garment Flat and Position Your Design

Smooth your garment flat on the lower platen, making sure there are no bunched seams in the pressing zone. Place your iron-on design shiny liner side up, design face down, in the desired position.

Close the Upper Platen Arm

Lower the upper platen arm manually until it latches into the closed position. The latch engages automatically — you should feel and hear it click.

Press Start

Press the Start button on the panel. The Autopress will automatically apply the preset pressure for the full duration of the timer. Stand clear of the press mechanism while it operates.
Keep fingers and hands clear of the press mechanism during operation. Never press items with thick seams, zippers, buttons, or hardware under the platen — these can damage the heating element or cause uneven pressure.

Wait for the Completion Signal

When the press cycle finishes, the machine will beep and the upper arm will release. The display will indicate that the press is complete.

Peel the Liner

Carefully lift the upper arm and remove your garment. Peel the liner according to your vinyl type — hot, warm, or cold peel as specified in the Cricut Heat Guide for your material.
For multi-layer iron-on projects, press each layer separately at the correct time and temperature settings for that specific material. Never stack multiple layers and press them all at once.

Cricut Heat App Integration

Both the Autopress and Autopress 2 connect to the Cricut Heat app via Bluetooth. The app provides guided pressing sessions — it automatically sends the correct temperature, time, and pressure settings to the machine based on your selected material and garment type. Download the Cricut Heat app from the App Store or Google Play.
