# How to Set Up Your Cricut Autopress for Best Results

## Setup and First Use

    Remove the Autopress from its packaging and place it on a **sturdy, level table**. The Autopress weighs approximately 42 lbs — get help lifting it if needed.

    Make sure there is at least **12 inches of clearance behind** the machine to allow the upper arm to open and close fully without obstruction. Do not place it against a wall.

  <Step title="Plug In the Power Cord">
    Connect the power cord to the back of the Autopress and plug into a grounded wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or power strip — connect directly to the wall for stable power delivery.

  <Step title="Power On and Set Temperature">
    Press the power button. The digital panel will illuminate. Use the temperature controls on the panel to set your desired temperature. Allow the machine to fully preheat before pressing.

    Smooth your garment flat on the lower platen, making sure there are no bunched seams in the pressing zone. Place your iron-on design shiny liner side up, design face down, in the desired position.

    Lower the upper platen arm manually until it latches into the closed position. The latch engages automatically — you should feel and hear it click.

    Press the **Start** button on the panel. The Autopress will automatically apply the preset pressure for the full duration of the timer. Stand clear of the press mechanism while it operates.

      Keep fingers and hands clear of the press mechanism during operation. Never press items with thick seams, zippers, buttons, or hardware under the platen — these can damage the heating element or cause uneven pressure.
